How Direct Color Systems Partnered with KC Custom Signs
“I have been aware of Direct Color Systems and their UV technology for a while,” says Mike Kuzmich, Owner of KC Custom Signs. “But I wasn’t ready to bring the technology in house until they secured that first patent for the ADA/Braille UV LED application. Once I saw the press release, I scheduled a trip to visit company headquarters in Rocky Hill, CT. I knew I needed the technology and the patent sealed it for me.”
During the visit to DCS HQ in CT, materials were tested on both the 1800z and 7200z printers. “Our production goals required us to bring the larger 7200 into our shop, but we also purchased the smaller 1800z for redundancy and smaller runs,” says Kuzmich. “We are now producing Braille signs in 5 minutes that took us 10x longer before we had the UV printer. We’ve also been using the smaller machine to print on non-signage things too. It’s been a great for us.”
