Subject: New Release of DCS 12-24 Printer Driver and Firmware
Direct Color Systems is pleased to announce the release of new firmware for the DCS 1224 with ColorFIRST. Remember that the firmware on the 1224 is flash up-gradeable memory and can be done automatically from your computer.
This revision, V205, has the following capabilities/improvements:

Increased Throughput Speed – The DCS 1224 can now image onto an 8" x 12" substrate in full color in as fast as 3.5 minutes each and as fast as 3 minutes in monochrome. This equates to throughput as fast as 2.2 seconds per square inch in full color and 1.9 seconds per square inch in monochrome!

Shorter Dwell Times between Printing and Image Transfer – By changing the internal sensing code we have been able to significantly shorten this dwell time.

Better Error Handling – Printer response time is quicker and Lamination Temperature Fault errors have been eliminated.

Pre and Post Printing Lamination Temperature Adjustment – In the maintenance screen in the 1224 driver there is a window for "Top Wait" adjustment. This allows the user to set the Pre and Post printing temperature for a maximum time frame of 20 minutes prior and 20 minutes after printing a job. IMPORTANT: This temperature setting should always be 5 degrees below that at which you set the lamination temperature for each job. Failure to do so could add an excessive amount of time as the printer may then need to lower the lamination roller to lamination temperature or increase the lamination roller to lamination temperature far more than necessary.
