Subject: Adapter Kits Available for Newer Model MACs
As is currently the case, if a prospective customer is interested in purchasing a Millennium printer for use with a Macintosh computer system, we urge you to obtain EXACT model information before closing the sale and relaying that information to the DCS technical service staff. Some Mac computers are very capable (by themselves or with adapters) of working with DCS printers while others are simply not compatible at this time. DCS Technical Service can advise which Mac models are, or are not, compatible.
For installations with Mac models that are compatible, the Millennium leaves the office with a Mac serial port installed at the rear of the printer. The standard parallel (Centronics) connector is removed and replaced with a Mac serial port. A serial cable and a Mac printer driver disk (included with the printer) are all you’ll need to complete the installation.
Some Mac models require the above mentioned serial port adapter AND an additional adapter kit that facilitates communication between the cable and the computer. Adapter kits are necessary for the following Mac models:
Purchase adapter kits directly from outside vendors. Vendor contact information and pricing is listed below. Direct Color Systems has not tested every Mac computer with our printers, nor have we tested the additional adapter kits. We do not stock, supply, or warrant these products.
Note that all adapter solutions work with Macintosh computers where a serial
port connection is possible. Communication through the Mac USB port is not
available at this time.
Reminder:
-
Color Byte software is not compatible with Macintosh computers.
