Technical Bulletin #10
Date: April 7, 1999
Subject: CARD NOT FED ERROR
A card not fed error may be caused by one of the following possibilities:
-
The card is pulled up to the black platen roller and the print head is in the down position. Open the top of the unit and press both of the front panel blue buttons simultaneously 3-4 times. This will cycle the print head and raise it to the correct position.
-
The red rubber strip is too high or too low. This will allow more than one card to enter (if it is too low), or the card will not be pulled into the printer if the strip is too high.
-
If the Image Placement is set to far to the leading edge of the card, (IP in LCD display) the print head will come down and try to print before the card is in its proper position. This will be evident if the ribbon is pulled onto the black roller or stuck to the front of the card. Change the IP setting (see page 84 in the machine manual) and add +2 to the number on the display.
In the rare event that the above does not correct the situation, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer to reset the electronics.
If you need further assistance in upgrading your printer, please contact DCS technical support at techsupport@directcolorsystems.com or the same via phone at 860-829-2244.
